A carrier owns the trucks or planes. A broker finds the right carrier for your freight and manages the move. Parcel Management Group is a registered freight broker (USDOT 3266041 · MC 1030328). We shop rates, book the load, and stay with you if something goes wrong.
Use small package for boxes that are usually under 150 lbs. Use LTL when you have pallet freight that is too big for parcel but does not need a full truck. PMG helps you pick the cheaper, safer mode.
PMG offers full-service freight brokerage solutions, including parcel, LTL (less-than-truckload), FTL (full truckload), international shipping, and specialized freight services — all with premium, white-glove support.
Yes! We provide consulting and data analysis to identify savings, optimize carrier selection, and streamline your supply chain for better performance.
PMG focuses on service excellence, reliability, and expert guidance, not just the cheapest rates. We help protect your business from costly delays, claims, and frustrations — saving you time, money, and stress in the long run.
Yes! PMG offers proactive claims management, guiding you through every step and working directly with carriers to maximize your recovery.
We take immediate action, filing claims on your behalf, coordinating directly with carriers, and keeping you informed throughout the resolution process so you don't have to manage the headache. Just notify PMG of your issue within 3 days of receiving the shipment and we'll take care of the rest.
Any parcel typically under 150 lbs. and within specific size limits, shipped via carriers like UPS, FedEx, or USPS.
Ground is more economical with longer delivery times. Express (Next Day, 2nd Day) is faster and costs more.
Rates depend on package weight, dimensions, delivery speed, distance, and any surcharges.
DIM weight is calculated using package size, not just weight. It ensures large, light boxes don't cost too little to ship.
Yes, most carriers offer scheduled or on-demand pickups, often for a small fee.
Yes, all major carriers offer detailed tracking from pickup to final delivery.
You can file a claim. Most carriers offer guaranteed delivery times for express services and basic insurance coverage.
Standard corrugated boxes work well. Use protective materials for fragile items, and make sure to label clearly.
Yes, additional insurance is available beyond the default coverage (usually $100 value with most carriers).
Use negotiated carrier rates, ship with zone optimization, and consolidate shipments when possible.
LTL (Less-Than-Truckload) shipping is used when freight doesn't require a full truck. Multiple shipments from different shippers share space and cost on the same truck.
LTL is ideal for shipments between 150–15,000 lbs. that don't require an entire trailer. It's cost-effective for smaller freight volumes.
Rates are based on freight class, weight, distance, dimensions, and additional services like liftgate or residential delivery.
Freight class (NMFC) is a standardized classification that impacts cost. It's determined by density, handling, stowability, and liability.
Yes, most carriers offer tracking via PRO number or BOL number through their online portals or customer service.
Transit times depend on the origin and destination but typically range from 1 to 7 business days.
A Bill of Lading (BOL) is the primary document. It serves as a receipt and contract between shipper and carrier.
Basic carrier liability is included but often limited. Additional freight insurance is recommended for higher-value shipments.
You can file a freight claim with the carrier. Document the damage with photos, save all packaging and paperwork, and notify the carrier at delivery or as soon as possible.
Not necessarily. If you don't have a dock or forklift, request a liftgate service at pickup or delivery for an extra fee. Some carriers allow the product to be unloaded by hand to avoid additional liftgate fees.
FTL shipping means your freight exclusively occupies a truck. It's faster and safer for larger shipments.
Use FTL for shipments over 15,000 lbs., high-value or fragile items, or when you need faster transit times.
Pricing is based on mileage, route, equipment type, fuel cost, and market demand — but not freight class.
Common options include dry vans, flatbeds, and refrigerated (reefer) trailers.
Yes, FTL is typically faster because the truck goes directly from pickup to delivery without handling other freight.
Yes, many carriers provide GPS tracking or location updates from the driver or dispatch.
Possible charges include detention, layover, truck ordered not used (TONU), and lumper fees.
Not always. You can ship loose or floor-loaded items if secured properly, though palletizing helps with loading and safety.
Yes, but like LTL, it's limited. Consider additional cargo insurance for high-value freight.
Same-day shipping is possible, but booking 24–48 hours in advance ensures better availability and pricing.
